Old-Fashioned Honey Cake

Recipe
For the honey cake you will need

1 cup of sugar

1 cup of honey
-
1 cup of sour cream
-
1 teaspoon of baking soda
-
1 teaspoon of cloves
-
3-4 eggs depending on their size
Note: if the eggs are small, you will need 4.

~3 cups of flour
Preparation

Put 1 cup of honey into a pot
Put the honey into a pot -
Over medium heat, stir the honey
Stir the honey -
Stir the honey until it starts to bubble.
Note: bubbling changes the flavor of the honey.
Finish stirring the honey -
Set the honey aside to cool

Grind or crush the cloves

Separate the egg whites from the yolks into separate bowls
Separate the egg whites from the yolks into separate bowls -
Add 0.5 cup of sugar to the egg whites, and the other 0.5 to the yolks

Whisk the egg whites and the yolks

Whisked yolks -
Put the sour cream into a bowl

Add a teaspoon of baking soda to the sour cream
Note: baking soda thins the sour cream.

Stir the baking soda into the sour cream

Pour the honey into the bowl
Pour the honey into the bowl -
Mix everything together
Stir the baking soda into the sour cream -
Add the cloves and stir

Add the yolks and stir
-
Add the egg whites and stir

Keep adding flour and keep stirring
Note: add just enough flour to reach a sour cream consistency.
Finished batter, sour cream consistency -
Take a baking tin or dish

Line it with parchment paper
Note: the batter will rise to double its size, so the dish must be 2 times larger than the volume of the batter.

Pour the batter into the tin or dish

Preheat the oven to 180°C, top and bottom heat

Bake for 45 min
